Winter Wonderland Switzerland

Winter Wonderland Switzerland - for young and old

The exhibition "Winter Wonderland Switzerland" opens its doors this week! Already in summer I was allowed to make these shots in the video. It felt as if I landed in a fairy tale. As a Christmas child who was born on December 25th, the fascination of winter and light was practically put into my cradle. This exhibition is a kind of Christmas present for me. And tonight I may look at the finished winter exhibition marvel and bring you closer!

Winter Wonderland Switzerland - in Bern and Lucerne

So this week is opening Winter Wonderland's Switzerland - the biggest light show in the world.

Finally the time has come! If it is only approximately as fascinating as in the summer when I took the pictures, then it will be the hammer! Even in that small setting back then, I was mesmerized by the fabulous light figures! The lights and light figures make you forget everything around, even the weather:). For once feel like a child again without thinking about what tomorrow is or could be. At this exhibition you can just marvel and enjoy! At least that's how I felt when I saw this light art for the first time! But I am anyway a hopeless kitsch child!

What you should perhaps know: all these lights are mounted individually on these light figures! This is an incredibly tedious work which deserves the utmost respect! I honestly could not - I would have no nerves for it.

Data

The biggest light show in Switzerland can be visited from November 4 to January 30, 2022! You are spoiled for choice and can choose between two locations. One is the Gurten near Bern, which you can reach with the Gurtenbahn. The good thing is:

Thanks to a partnership between Stargarage and the Gurtenbahn AG, all visitors with a valid ticket for Winter Wonderland Bern can travel free of charge on the "Gurtenbähnli" up to Bern's local mountain and back again after their visit to the park. All you have to do is show your admission ticket at the valley station and you'll be allowed on the "Bähnli". That's really cool, isn't it? Besides, the Gurten is famous for the Gurten Festival, which usually takes place every year. It would be the opportunity to see this area in a different light, without screaming but with winter magic.

Balm for the soul

Many of us have not had an easy time in the last two years, all this Corona business has pushed us to our limits. Maybe it's time to switch off a bit in Winter Wonderland Switzerland (but please not the lights!):) Let's think back to the time when we were still children. That carefree time where we could think of nothing but the moment and not the future and its consequences. I think that deep inside us there is still a little child slumbering and eagerly waiting to be let out! I think Winter Wondeland is the perfect place to wake up that slumbering child. That being said, Winter is for all the fairy tale fae anyway. At least it has me every year:)
